Cowardice

The Thirty-One Days of Poetry (2013 Edition)

Day - the Fifteenth

Cowardice
(guest poet: Saralyn Marshall)

Live, laugh, love
Read, think, dream
You are the only one
Who can advise yourself how to live.

I wish I could tell my teenage self this:
Look the world in the eye
And decide how you want your life to be.

Hiding from the decision gives
Too much power to the world,
And the weight of your lack of
Decision will choke you.

(Miss Marshall was a guest poet in last year's 31 Days of Poetry. You can read her poem here.)
