Flowing through the shadows of the night

XXXI Days of Poetry - Day the Ninth

Flowing through the shadows of the night

Flowing through the shadows of the night
Desperate to stay out of the light
Keeping task at hand,
Though to never understand
How to ever put the damage right

Hiding from the fear that is a vise
Praying for your blood to stay as ice
Stepping in the fire,
Knowing danger ever higher
Wondering if you will pay the price

Setting into motion all the gears
Trying not to choke upon your fears
Springing all the traps,
In allotted time elapse
Hoping that your eyes will hide the tears

Slipping from the danger of the fight
Never will you know if you were right
Playing out the deal,
Maybe wounded lives will heal
Flowing through the shadows of the night

The title of this poem comes from another poem, that I also wrote.
Take a look at it and see if you can make any thematic and storyline connections:

 There's still a beat missing on 1, 2 and 4. I can FEEL it!
